i'm an active guy. it's basically the focus of my life at the moment. i find so much enjoyment and fulfillment from constantly challenging myself. i often wonder why people have stress, but then i realize that my stresses are eliminated long before they ever could start.

just to give you a quick background on my athletic lifestyle:
1994 - started weightlifting and started the transition from pudgy mike into athletic mike.
2001-03 - trained and raced in concrete canoe competitions for the university of wisconsin-madison.
2004 - moved to seattle and fell in love with mountains.
2006 - first year of triathlon and i did my first ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run).
2007 - biked across the country unsupported with my dad - an amazing journey indeed.
2008 - signed up for 2 ironmans and 3 half ironmans with the goal of qualifying for the world championships in kona
2009 - depends on the results of 2008, maybe bike down the pacific coast or just hike a ton, possibly a double ironman
2010 - hike the pacific crest trail from mexico to canada - also, realize that i just hit 30 and my body is breaking down

now, i write all this not to scare you off, but just to let you know that my ideal match and partner needs to be at least somewhat passionate about athletics and have drive in her life to challenge herself. i don't give less than 100% and, while i'm reserved in most facets of my external life, my internal emotion burns very passionately for these things.

when it comes to me as a person, i feel i try to be unobtrusive. i do my best to be green with the environment. the heat is seldom on in my house. i try to use little energy when possible. i'm liberal in politics and think that bush is a retard and can't wait til he's out of there. if you're even thinking about voting republican, we're not going to work out. i always put the toilet seat down, never slam doors or cabinets, and walk silently so as to not disturb anyone - i guess i'm trying to say that i'm considerate in ways that are seldom noticed, but subtly appreciated.

my smile and laughter are genuine. parents love me. i'm a sarcastic, realistic person. i suck at trying to build one's ego, but am straightforward and complimentary when i see something worth complimenting. my passion is often unmatched and i'm a natural leader, but not in a me-first way. i've always believed in 'we', not 'i'. from what i've observed, i'm a lead by example person rather than someone that actively encourages one to excel.

i think self accountability in today's world in paramount. my lifestyle is highly independent, but with the right person, that will change. we would still need to be individually independent, but i'm definitely looking for someone long term that i can create and share with unforgettable memories.
